MANITOBA ASSOCIATION OF COTTAGE OWNERS INC. Minutes of meeting Date: Tuesday, April 20th, 2004 Time: 6:00 P M Location: Canad Inn, 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, Present: Gary Dunlop, Pat Dunlop, Daryll Hyslop, Barb Hyslop, Jim Neufeld, Shirley Nixon, Dave Crabb, Doug Neal, Lorraine Neal Also Present:Candy Neufeld Regrets Rene Comeault, Terry Kane 1. Call to Order President Neal called the meeting to order at 617 P M 2. Adoption of Agenda Moved by Dave Crabb, seconded by Gary Dunlop that the agenda be adopted with the following additions under New Business, CCPCC Conference Call Winnipeg Real Estate Board Motion carried 3. Adoption of Minutes of the previous meeting of March 25th, 2004 Moved by Lorraine Neal, seconded by Pat Dunlop that the minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as presented. Motion carried. 4. Financial Report In the absence of Bill Russell, Doug Neal gave the financial report We have $1687.21 in Chequing $1009.90 in Super Savings Total $2696.61 5. Correspondence a) Letter to Minister Peter Bjornson Correspondence received a) Living By Water Doug explained the Living by Water project as it pertains to our newsletter. b) Membership drive Barb and Daryll Hyslop outlined their plan to try to obtain more members with a package containing a letter to non-members and application forms for associations as well as individuals to become members. Lorraine Neal moved that Daryll and Barb Hyslop be reimbursed for expenses to print and mail a membership letter. Seconded by Dave Crabb. Motion Carried. 6. Old Business a) Grant request from Oceans and Fisheries partnered with Living by Water. Reported on b) Meeting with Dwight Williamson - Manitoba Stewardship Report Concern expressed regarding the report of the Lake Winnipeg Consortium. To bring this item up at the next meeting with Dwight. 7. New Business a) MACO letterhead We will carry on as usual. b) CCPCA Conference call - April 27, 2004 Dave Crabb and Shirley Nixon to take the Conference call at Shirley Nixon's home. Discussion expected to be on issues such as fee structure that is fair to large and small organizations. Questions to be asked of the CCPCA should be "what are the objectives, and mission of the CCPCA?" c) Pat Porth - Revisit We will invite Pat to come to our next meeting with Dwight Williamson d) Winnipeg Real Estate Board e) Doug reported on his call to the Real Estate Board regarding a proposed meeting with the Board regarding removal of school tax from property. We are all in favor of this action. We can also call the Winnipeg Seniors and make the same pitch to them. 10. Directors Reports Gary and Pat Dunlop have no reports Daryll and Barb Hyslop gave their reports Jim Neufeld Ice fishing derby at Clearwater Lake, not many fish caught, but prizes were still drawn for. Jim reported that there is not a lot going on at present. The Pas airport is located on Clearwater lake - is privately owned and approximately one half mile in length. It may possibly be divided into cottage lots. Not definite as yet. Input was requested from Clearwater Lake Cottage owners. The residents of Clearwater expressed concern that if development occurred there would have to be adherence to environmental regulations. Other concerns expressed re kids using quads. Discussion took place and plans were made to allow the kids access to trails for a trial period. Annual General Meeting in Clearwater Lake on July 5th. Shirley Nixon Shirley reported from Injury Prevention Conference (Impact). Request from Rick Barnard re association information for Paint Lake. Dave Crabb St. Clements is still having problems in the municipality. There is money unspent. Dave reported that the councilors meet with cottage associations en masse. No major projects undertaken north of Selkirk for three years. Police officer in cottage areas, Ron Halek, has been returned to Selkirk and bylaw enforcement officers will be hired. 11. Date, time and location of next meeting Next meeting on Tuesday, May 18th, 2004 at the Canad Inn, 2100 McPhillips Street. 12.
