A current change that is simply worded that there are to be no tents except in leased spaces. They are now requiring trailers and kid's tents for camping out at night to be removed from yards. Possibly send letter to Gord Jones expressing concerns. Should send us something in writing. No public consultation and no newsletters advising of it. 10. Directors' Reports Gary Dunlop - No report. Shirley Nixon - No report. Marian Jones - The baseball team's garage sale was rained out and charity places had turned the items down. The association netted $500. There has been wind damage with downed trees. Are still struggling with the road mess from earlier in the year. July 24th, approval was given at RM of Alexander council meeting to have a seasonal RV park open in the area across from Trappers. The public boat launch and swim docks were to be available. The association has maintained these and there is frustration regarding the offer of these facilities. The development plan has not been updated. There is concern that volunteers may quit working on facilities if trailer development not contributing. Larry Baker - Would like to know day and time that would be best for a rally. Gus Wruck - Second issue of RM News and Views is out. Tax assessor was in neighbourhood. Community Foundation coming along. There is a boat launch issue in Meadows - emotional but not much discussion on facts. There was a severe mistake in development. Shoreline depths too shallow and must go back to the drawing board. Ken Corbett - The Four Seasons Island Resort and adjacent cottage areas have been very busy places this summer. Construction of our new 18 hole golf course is all but complete, and we are looking forward to it opening next spring. It is anticipated that the country club will be open at the same time. Also hopefully still planned for next year is the new pool and water slide. The OLCOA hosted another successful flea market/craft sale August 4th in the provincial park. Turnout was a little down from last year due to competition from town 125th, reunions, etc. but still managed a profit of approximately $850. Currently working with the RM of Sifton drafting a by-law to provide better control of property standards. (Derelict buildings, storage of fish huts, etc.) There are 100 cottage owners whose dues are delinquent, and we are working on collecting. Still lobbying the RM to have them get estimates on the cost of a low pressure sewage system for our resort, to be installed in conjunction with the new sewage lagoon. OLCOA will make a contribution to the AGM silent auction. Carole Corbett has volunteered to purchase an item/items not to exceed $50. Ken will be asking the Four Seasons Island Resort Management for a contribution as well. They are very community minded and normally support such causes. Lorne Britton - Fishnets are a problem. A child was caught in net while skiing and the father (Rudy) is now championing. There is a standing invitation from CJOB, Minister of Fisheries. Fisheries provided some funding to clear problem. - No boats are big enough; RCMP now has a large boat to go out into the lake. Hope to be able to provide an update at the next meeting. Pat Dunlop - Picnic was held and meeting last night to review. Although executive noticed changes that need to be made all went well. A review was also done with respect to the beacon and costs. MACO Newsletter in process. What is happening with regard to Lake Manitoba Stewardship Board? Bill Russell - Picnic turned out very good. Concern regarding where a new hospital is built. RM of Lac du Bonnet - 4494. ½ non residents 2800 residents in 2006 census. Lots of trees down after storm and road closed. Vehicle damage. Dave Crabb - Significant amount of rain - unable to see across the street. There was a fun corn roast with 50+ people. New emergency station now open full time ambulance. By-law enforcement on weekends is keeping ATV out of beach area. 11. Date of Next Meeting - October 9th, 2007 12. Meeting Adjourned - Gary Dunlop moved the meeting be adjourned at 9:30 pm. |
