Minutes of Meeting

Present:Dave Crabb, Shirley Nixon, Bill Russell, Rene Comeault, Gary Dunlop, Pat Dunlop, Doug Neal, Lorraine Neal

1. Call to Order
President Neal called the meeting to order at 6:30 P M.

2. Adoption of Agenda
Moved by Rene Comeault, seconded by Dave Crabb that the agenda is adopted as presented.
Motion Carried.

3. Adoption of Minutes of the Previous Meeting of January 20th, 2004
Moved by Lorraine Neal, seconded by Pat Dunlop that the minutes of the previous meeting of January 20th, 2004 be adopted with the following correction:
The date for the Cottage and Camping Show should be February 27 - 29, 2004.
Motion Carried.

4. Financial Report
Bill reported the bank balance of $1965.16 as of January 7th, 2004.  Bill subsequently moved $1000 into Superior Savings. Current balance after payment of invoices is $703.21.
Bill moved acceptance of his report, seconded by Shirley Nixon.
Shirley Nixon asked the cost of MACO insurance.  Bill reported it is $500 per year.
Motion carried

Some discussion ensued re the copier Doug Neal has.  Shirley suggested MACO pay for the next bottle of toner.  Neals do considerable copying for MACO.

Moved by Bill Russell, seconded by Dave Crabb that we purchase a bottle of toner for the Neal copier and reimburse Bill Russell for postage in the amount of $26.22
Motion Carried.

5. Correspondence
a) Shirley Nixon received an email from the Webmaster, Stan Malec stating that he had not received enough information re the directors, minutes etc. for the Webpage from MACO.

b) An e-mail was received from Terry Kane announcing a meeting scheduled for Friday morning, February 20th, 2004 with Minister of Conservation Stan Struthers.  Doug to attend the meeting on behalf of MACO.
c) Shirley received an email from Stan outlining the move to a new email server.
d) Shirley passed along information info to Stan regarding the Transport Canada Marine Safety, Fisheries and Oceans workshop scheduled for Gimli in March.
e) A fax was received by Doug Neal from the Eastern Tourist Guide asking if MACO would like to advertise in the guide at a cost of $200 for 1/8 page.
Much discussion ensued.
Moved by Dave Crabb, seconded by Bill Russell that we purchase an ad in the Eastern Tourist Guide for this one year.
Motion Carried.

6. Old Business
a) Grant request form Oceans and Fisheries partnered with Living by Water
Doug presented an email from Nature Sask outlining the proposal from Nature Sask and Oceans and Fisheries.
We will require more information re the planned workshops.  Who will do them and where and when.

7. New Business
a) Cottage and camping show

Cottage and Camping show volunteers are all lined up.  Shirley prepared a mailing to go to members in the hope that the advertising would help to increase participation.  All executive and partners have been given a time slot.  Bill Russell to do takedown on Sunday, Gary, Pat and Shirley to set up.
b) Report re special meetings with Dwight Williamson and Tim Ness
We need answers to the questions previously asked.  Doug to email Tim Ness and Dwight Williamson requesting links to Clean Water and Drinking Water Act regulations plus the Environment Act.
We also require information re the Shellmouth Dam, Lake Manitoba water levels and the beach closures from summer 2003.
c) Delegation March meeting
Dr. Tim Hilderman had a previous commitment and was unable to attend the February meeting.  Dave Crabb assured the members that Dr. Hilderman would be present for the March 16th meeting.  He will have a presentation about 20 minutes in length.
d) Mailing - Shirley
Shirley unable to solicit enough funds from prospective advertisers to do a complete mailing of the Cottage and Camping show advertisement.  She mailed to half our members and will try to obtain more funds to complete the mailing.  This mailing does not include a newsletter.
e) Items for Newsletter
MACO would like to be able to complete a spring newsletter to be sent in late March.  We need information re events in your area, and some news from our members.

8. Directors reports
1) Dave Crabb
Dave reported that the R. M. of St. Clements would force compliance in Boulder Bay.  A well close to Dave's property is already e coli infected at a depth of 68 feet.
We need to compile a checklist of questions for our meeting with Dwight.  Dave will talk to Dr. Tim Hilderman and ask if there's further info for us.
2) Shirley Nixon
Shirley has tentative advertiser for the next newsletter.  We need some regular advertisers to help with postage costs.
3) Rene Comeault
Rene suggested a laptop computer would be more efficient for minute taking.  We all agreed.
4. Pat Dunlop
Pat reported that a Subsidy Director is available, but is not in the library as yet.  Dave suggested we might try the library at the Legislature.
5. Bill Russell

6. Lorraine Neal
No report
