Box 281, Station Main, Winnipeg, R3G 2G9 Minutes of Meeting Date: Tuesday February 15, 2005 Time: 6:00 PM Location: Garden City CanadInn, 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg Present: Dave Crabb, Doug Neal, Pat Dunlop, Gary Dunlop, Joe Younge Guest: Ray McKee of the Gull Lake Rate Payers Association (attended about one-half hour) Regrets: Rene Comeault, Daryll Hyslop, Jim Neufeld, Bill Russell, Lindy Clubb, Shirley Nixon, Lorraine Neal 1. Call to Order President Neal called the meeting to order at 6:20 PM 2. Adoption of Agenda Moved by Dave Crabb, seconded by Gary Dunlop that the agenda is adopted. Motion Carried. 3. Adoption of Minutes of previous meeting of January 26th, 2004 Moved by Pat Dunlop, seconded by Dave Crabb that the minutes of the previous meeting of January 26th, 2005 are adopted as presented. Motion carried. 4. Treasurer's Report Treasurer Bill Russell on holidays. Report not available. 5. Correspondence sent 6. Correspondence received a) E-mail from Clive Calaway - Living By Water asked that MACO sponsor translation of the book into French for Nova Scotia, Quebec and Manitoba use. Letter sent supporting translation. b) Letter from Hydro advising of the amalgamation of hydro services for Grand Marais and Powerview. Meeting scheduled for March 9th Doug Neal will attend with Ken Avery Chair of Grand Beach and Area Development Association, Ed Gunning Councillor St. Clements and Don Schmidt Councillor Alexander. E-mails between Jim Neufeld and Mike Beck regarding Property Taxation (previously circulated by email) were reviewed 6. Old Business a) Meeting protocols (Ground rules for effective meetings) Jim Neufeld's suggestion regarding briefing note for new issues to be brought to meetings was discussed. It was decided that this was a good idea but that there was some concern that issues may be omitted due to lack of briefing note. It was suggested that where there wasn't a briefing note that the issue be brought forward and then could be tabled if necessary until the next meeting to allow time to prepare a briefing note or provide another form of written information to assist members in understanding implications and decision making. b) Workshop/seminar planning The date of the next planning session will be Saturday, February 26th, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Shirley Nixon's. Doug advised that he was given a name of a person who gives seminars using the Living By Water book as a base. It was moved by Dave Crabb and seconded by Joe Younge that Doug contact him for further information relating to cost and availability with a view to having him as a presenter for the workshop/seminar. 7. New Business 8. Directors Reports Dave Crabb Dave reported that street signs not yet available in Boulder Bay. Gary and Pat Dunlop Pat reported that there had been a number of break-ins in Lundar Beach of the past couple of months. Joe Younge Joe reported that Oak Lake's Crime Watch Citizen's on Patrol has reduced incidences of break-ins by more than 60%. It was reported that one break-in there was nothing taken and it appeared that someone had slept in the cottage overnight. Approximately 30 live there all year. Joe also reported that there had been some cougar tracks spotted. 9. Adjournment On a motion by Pat Dunlop the meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM 10.
