22, 06 Minutes of Meeting Date: Tuesday, February 21st, 2006 Time: 6:00 PM Location: CanadInns, 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg Present: Dave Crabb, Gus Wruck, Jim Neufeld, Daryll Hyslop, Donna Jean Crabb, Pat Dunlop, Gary Dunlop Guest: Shirley Nixon Regrets: Rene Comeault, Joe Younge, Bill Russell 1.Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. 2.Adoption of Agenda Daryll Hyslop moved adoption of the Agenda. Seconded by Pat Dunlop. Carried. 3.Adoption of the Minutes of the previous meeting of November 23, 2005 Jim Neufeld moved adoption of the Minutes as amended. Seconded by Daryll Hyslop. Carried. 4.Financial Report - Bill Russell Pat Dunlop provided a receipt for the purchase of pre-stamped envelopes. 5.Correspondence Sent • ?Correspondence sent soliciting sponsorship for seminar. Received support letters from Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium and Living By Water. • Article and advertisement done for The Cottager. 6.Correspondence Received •? Twin Lake Beaches Newsletter mentioned our Annual General Meeting. • Coalition for Safer Waters advised of a meeting on March 9th 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Life Saving Society, 504-128 Portage Avenue E. Carol Epinstal @ 787-1873 A notice of the seminar to be sent to sfeely1@mts.net 7.Old Business a) AGM Minutes were reviewed. b) Workshop Seminar Planning. It was suggested that MLA's should be advised of the seminar. Notices should also be sent to places like CTV as public service announcements. Place Louis Riel has been booked for the seminar. Reservation for Dr. Lawson still with the CanadInns. Daryll and Pat to choose the menu for the seminar. c) MACO Website: Suggestion - add a "bulleting board" regarding coming events. There is an "email loop" on the site to prevent emails being sent to individuals through the website. d) Sustainable Development Initiative Fund Proposal - Awaiting a support letter from Conservation and Dave Crabb will send a PDF file. e) Cheque for $5,000.00 - Still working on it. f) School Taxes - Gus Wruck contacted Keystone without response. He will try again. g) Pelican Lake - Shirley hasn't heard anything further from the group. Pat to send a note to Vic Brown. h) One-Tonne Challenge • Pat to obtain brochures from federal government. • Coalition Activities - process begun, no report yet. Jim Neufeld to represent northern area and feed back information. Paint Lake people concerned regarding commercial operator's fees. No time lines established. 8.New Business (a) Money to Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium -Table to next meeting. Dave Crabb to consult with LWRC to find out where letter(s) to be sent as per motion at AGM. 9.Directors' Reports Gus Wruck Snowmobile Club website up - snowpals.com Jim Neufeld - • Ice on Clearwater Lake is 20 - 21 inches thick. Rotary Club Fishing Derby Planning. Meeting with one who makes winter roads and work is being done in an attempt to make lake freeze deeper. Told to drill alternating holes- none in line. No large vehicles to go on lake. 250 people would equal 25 Tons. Website for Clearwater Lake is www.clearwatercottagers.ca Daryll Hyslop reviewed the membership letter. Pat Dunlop reviewed the newsletter. Donna Jean Crabb • more break-ins at Victoria Beach. A couple of people have been caught. Dave Crabb - • No report. Gary Dunlop • Provided an update regarding the proposed beacon. Parks is concerned about potential liability.
