Minutes of Meeting

Date:          Tuesday, June 20th, 2006
Time:          6:00 p.m.
Location:  CanadInns, 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg
Present:     Dave Crabb, Gus Wruck, Gary Dunlop, Joe Younge, Donna

CALL TO ORDER:

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

ADOPTION OF AGENDA:
Gary Dunlop moved adoption of the Agenda, Seconded by Bill Russell.                                                                                                          
Carried.

ADOPTION OF MINUTES:

Adoption of the minutes carried over until July 18th meeting due to absence of the Secretary.

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Moved by Bill Russell and seconded by Gary Dunlop that the Financial Report be accepted as presented.                                                          
Carried.

CORRESPONDENCE SENT:

No correspondence was sent during this period.

CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED:


•  Rene Rosset of MAG Design Group, designers and producers of
    various sizes of septic systems wanted to know if there are Septic
    System Specifications for Manitoba and who he should approach in the
    Provincial Government.

•  Ed Link - Laurentian Insurance - called Dave Crabb regarding Cox
   Morris - Dave Crabb will send out application to him.

OLD BUSINESS

Workshop Seminar -
• Cheque and letter have been mailed.  Funding will remain an item until
   funding is sorted out.

Website -
• No problems have been reported at this time.  Dave Crabb will have 
  minutes uploaded.

Water Stewardship Fund -
• Dave Crabb reported that we should know in July whether the fund will
  help with funding the seminar.

Cheque for $5,000.00 -
• Living by water has apologized for not following up on printing the
  French version of Living by Water.  Dave Crabb advised that he would
  look into this matter.

School Taxes -
• Gus Wruck had put together some thoughts on School Taxes and
  distributed them to the members in attendance.  He advised that a lot of
  research must be done before we can make a submission.  Dave Crabb
  suggested contacting Association Reps to see what their positing is.  A
  copy of Gus Wruck's outline is attached.  Moved by Gus Wruck and
  Seconded by Bill Russell that this item be tabled until August 2006
  meeting.

Pelican Lake -
• Shirley Nixon had passed on the information to Pat Dunlop - she will
   follow up.

Coalition Activities -
• No report was available at this time.

NEW BUSINESS

Tembec -
• Dave Crabb advised that MACO has been invited to join the Tembec 
  Sustainable Forest Management Advisory Comittee.  Dave Crabb will act
  as the representative but needs an alternate.  Gus Wruck advised that he
  would be the alternate.

AGM  2006 -
• A discussion was held regarding what was wanted at the AGM for 2006. 
   The following decisions were made:

Guest Speakers -
•  It was moved by Joe Younge that there be only two speakers. 
   Seconded by Gary Dunlop.                                                                     
Carried. 

•  It was suggested that Minister of Education or his alternate be invited to
   speak.  Gus Wruck suggested that Gerald Hawranik might be invited to
   speak on School Taxes. 

•  Dave Crabb wil l contact the Opposition Party Education Critic and see
    if he will attend.

Program -

• Gary Dunlop raised the question about the silent auction.  After
   considerable discussion it was moved by Gary Dunlop and seconded
   by Joe Younge that we not have a silent auction this year.      
     Carried.

Elections  -
• The determination of who is up for re-election was tabled until the next  
   meeting due to absence of the Secretary.  Joe Younge advised that in all
   likelihood he would not be standing for re-election.

Location -

•  It was moved by Gary Dunlop and seconded by Bill Russell that the
    2006   AGM be held at the Place Louis Riel. 
                                       Carried.

•  Dave Crabb will reserve the room for the AGM, which is to be held 21
    October 2006.

Shirley Nixon -
•  Dave Crabb advised Shirley Nixon that the Board of Directors would
   like to take her out for dinner in recognition of her many years of service
   to MACO.  Bill Russell and Shirley Nixon will arrange a date and an
   alternate and advise all.

Cox Morris -

•  Bill Russell advised that Cox Morris have advised that the premium of
   $312.00 will remain in effect for one more year.  Next year the premium
   will be $400.00.  The insurance policy provides general liability - not
   directors insurance.  Bill Russell has contacted Cox Morris and
   provided them with a list of what Associations belong to MACO.  He
   asked Cox Morris about coverage for Directors and Executive members
   but has not heard back from them.  Dave Crabb stated that clarification
   of coverage for Directors/Executive must be received so we can advise
   member Associations.

DIRECTOR'S REPORTS


Gary Dunlop
•  Reported that the Lundar Beach Association AGM will be held early next
   month.  They are also planning a picnic.  The beacon is still under
   consideration.

Shirley Nixon
• Reported on a workshop that will take place in the fall.

Gus Wruck
• Reported on the injury suffered by one of their residents.

Donna Jean Crabb
• Reported that their water system was up and running and that the RM
  has repaired the steps down to the beach.

Joe Younge
• Reported that construction on the first nine holes of the golf course is  
  completed.  He advised that he was no longer the President of the Oak
  Lake Cottage Association.  Poppy Cummings has been elected to
  replace him.

Dave Crabb
• Advised that work on the pier and breakwater has been completed.  The
  breakwater is 3 to 4 feet higher th•an last year.

Bill Russell
• Reported on the Lorell's Association.  The Association had to gate the
  boat launch as others were abusing the launch and destroying it.

Daryll Hyslop
• Reported that the Hazelwood Association had to gate their dock area to
   stop unauthorized personnel from using it and blocking the way for
   members of the Association.  He advised that he and Bill Russell will be
   attending a RM of Lac du Bonnet Council meeting on 27 Jan in support
   of the Wassahow by the Lee Cottage Owners Association in their quest
   to have a public boat launch established to serve the cottagers in their
   area.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday July 18th, 2006.
