March 14th, 2006 Time: 6:00 PM Location: CanadInns, 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg Present: Dave Crabb, Gus Wruck, Jim Neufeld, Pat Dunlop, Gary Dunlop, Bill Russell Regrets: Rene Comeault, Joe Younge, Donna Jean Crabb, Daryll Hyslop Prior to formal meeting some members spoke to Nick Martin from the Winnipeg Free Press about property taxes. 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. 2.Adoption of Agenda Pat Dunlop moved adoption of the Agenda. Seconded by Bill Russell. Carried. 3.Adoption of the Minutes of the previous meeting of February 21, 2006 Gus Wruck moved adoption of the Minutes as amended. Seconded by Gary Dunlop. Carried. 4.Financial Report - Bill Russell Bill Russell moved adoption of the financial report. Seconded by Jim Neufeld. Carried. 5.Correspondence Sent • Letters sent to Rural Municipalities and MLAs regarding seminar. • Correspondence sent to Lund regarding sponsoring the newsletter. They have agreed to sponsor this newsletter and willconsider future newletters. 6.Correspondence Received • Some response to request for interviewees for the Free Press re school taxes 7.Old Business a) Workshop Seminar Planning. - • Daryll and Pat have decided on a basic sandwich lunch. • Check with Robert Belanger regarding "handout bag". • Advertising - public service, Cottager, newsletter. Jim will distribute to Stake holder's committee meeting. Dave to contact Betty Ann Watts to try and obtain name of CBC person who attended AGM and then contact him regarding a news release. It was decided not to mail any reminders regarding seminar but Dave will email to those he has addresses for. • Seminar Agenda was circulated by email. • Dave to check with Dennis Lawson re equipment required and to make arrangements. b) MACO Website: • Trying to add links. d) Sustainable Development Initiative Fund Proposal • We were advised that the next funding would not be approved until mid May therefore they forwarded our proposal to Water Stewardship because they are developing funding for water initiatives. e) Cheque for $5,000.00 Bill to check on cheque as it is now stale dated. It was not cashed because we were concerned about cashing it before we were able to ensure delivery of the product. f) School Taxes - Nick Martin attended before meeting to discuss school taxes on property. He advised that the Frame Report can be downloaded. g) Pelican Lake • Pat to send a note to Vic Brown but most obtain information from Shirley Nixon. h) One-Tonne Challenge • Pat has obtained brochures relating to One-Tonne Challenge. i) Coalition Activities • No report yet. 8.New Business (a) Money to Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium -Pat Dunlop moved to send a donation of $200.00 to the Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium for the 2006 research year . Seconded by Gary Dunlop. Carried. (b) Gus Wruck moved that old newsletters be posted on the website. Seconded by Bill Russell. Carried. 9.Directors' Reports Gus Wruck Association dormant. • Will put out a flyer for seminar. Busy with snowmobile club. Bill Russell - • Daryll and Bill spoke to Dwight Williamson at the nutrient seminar. Bill received a T4 from the Credit Union regarding interest. Dave Swinn emailed him regarding Doug Neal's address and he sent him Dave's. Bill gave board new business cards. Jim Neufeld - • SAC concerns provincial parks only. Pat Dunlop • No report. Dave Crabb • Advised that he has a pocket recorder that could be used at meetings. Finally there is a crawler on the ice picking up table size boulders and putting them back. There are a few people going to the cottage in good weather. Gary Dunlop • Advised association had a fishing day. 10.Date of Next Meeting -.
