Call to Order President Doug Neal called the meeting to order at 6:25 P M 2. Adoption of Agenda Moved by Pat Dunlop, seconded by Daryll Hyslop that the agenda is adopted as presented. Motion Carried. 3. Adoption of Minutes of Previous meeting of April 20th, 2004. Moved by Shirley Nixon, seconded by Barb Hyslop that the minutes of the previous meeting of April 20th, 2004 are adopted as presented. Motion Carried. 4. Financial Report Treasurer Bill Russell presented two financial reports, the first as of March 15th, 2004 showed a balance of $2644.18. The second report as of May 17th, 2004 showed a balance of $2997.59. Moved by Bill Russell, seconded by Lorraine Neal that the Financial Report be accepted as presented. Motion Carried. 5. Correspondence a) Living by Water - request for MACO membership lists. MACO does not share its mailing list with businesses or individuals due to the Privacy Act. Doug will ask Living by Water to send us the info and we'll mail it out. b) Letter received from Honorable Peter Bjornson, Minister of Education Letter from Minister read for information. MACO to write a second letter to Minister Bjornson, again requesting a meeting with his office. c) Other correspondence attached. e-mails to and from Vicki DeLuca e-mail from Lindy Clubb regarding the Mixedwood Forest Society e-mail from Dave Crabb briefly outlining points of Conference Call with CCPCA Shirley Nixon re corrections in Financial statement of CCPCA CCPCA meeting minutes Advertisement in Winnipeg Free Press cottage supplement 6. Old Business a) Grant request from Oceans and Fisheries partnered with Living by Water Money received for cost of printing newsletter in color b) Meeting with Dwight Williamson Dwight Williamson indicated by telephone that a meeting with himself and Don Rocan may happen on June 15th, MACO regular meeting night. We may have to reschedule regular meeting. 7. New Business a) Liability Insurance for Water Systems This item must be brought to the attention of Don Rocan when he attends our next meeting. 8.Directors Reports a) Bill Russell Bill relayed a complaint he received by Mr. Bill McKelvie of Lac du Bonnet regarding the insurance with Cox Morris. Bill will investigate with Cox Morris. Shirley Nixon Shirley showed us the Fisheries and Oceans newsletter :"Watershed". She also distributed information from MAG Design Group Inc. (water treatment info). Shirley distributed a letter she wrote to Les Hunt regarding errors she found in the CCPCA information. Shirley suggested that MACO write a letter to Department of Fisheries and Oceans exploring the possibility of partnering with MACO as they do with cottage associations in Saskatchewan. Dave Crabb No report Barb and Daryll Hyslop Barb and Daryll are giving a MACO presentation to Wassabow Cottage Association on Saturday, May 22nd, and to Mascanow Cottage Association in August. Memberships have been received as a result of the letters that have been sent to non members advising there will be no more newsletters mailed to non members. Pat and Gary Dunlop Pat outlined some of the events undertaken by their cottage associations so Vicki could get a sense of what cottage associations do. Lake Manitoba water levels are still very much an issue for cottage associations along the shores of Lake Manitoba. 8. Date, time and location of next meeting The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 15th, 2004, 6:00 P M and the Garden City Canad Inn, 2100 McPhillips Street. 9.
