Box 281, Station Main, Winnipeg, R3G 2G9 Minutes of Meeting Date: Tuesday, May 17th, 2005 Time: 6:00 P M Location: CanadInn, 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, Present :Daryll Hyslop, Shirley Nixon, Doug Neal, Lorraine Neal, Dave Crabb Joe Younge, Bill Russell, Gary Dunlop, and Pat Dunlop. RegretsJim Neufeld, Rene Comeault, Lindy Clubb, 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:35 P M by President Neal. President Neal turned the chair over to Dave Crabb. 2. Adoption of Agenda Moved by Joe Younge, seconded by Bill Russell that the agenda be adopted. Motion carried. 3. Adoption of Minutes of the previous meeting of April 19th, 2005 Moved by Pat Dunlop seconded by Daryll Hyslop that the minutes of the previous meeting of April 19th, 2005 were adopted as presented. Motion carried. 4. Financial Report Bill Russell reported a payment of $4.65 in interest as being the only financial change from the April 19th report. Bill moved adoption of the report, seconded by Gary Dunlop. Motion carried. 5. Correspondence sent (a) 7.Correspondence received a) An email request from the Flin Flon Reminder for a copy of an article written forThe Cottager on water. Copy sent to them by email. b) An email from Art Lamoureux. Shirley Nixon working on compiling a history of MACO to contribute to the documentation for the CCPCA. MACO's last fees were paid on October 26th, 2004. c) Notification from IMPACT regarding seminar on drowning prevention strategies to be held on Tuesday May 31st from 9am - noon at the Canada Inn on Empress. Registration by May 25th. 8. Old Business (a) Workshop/Seminar Planning - Doug advised that Professor Dennis Lawson would be in Winnipeg in August and he had planned to meet with him and perhaps arrange for him to meet the executive. The hotel is booked for the workshop and a room booked for Professor Lawson. It was decided that letters should be sent to RM councils that include cottage areas. RM's should be asked for funding support and invited to attend the workshop. (b) 2005 AGM Planning - Suggestions for guest speakers- - someone from the Lake Winnipeg Consortium - someone from the Department of Health that could speak on blastamycosis, lyme disease and hanta disease - Minister Ashton to open AGM, welcome guests and give a short address - Minister Bjoranson (Education) . 9. New Business Nominating Committee - Shirley Nixon has agreed to coordinate nominations for the AGM. 10. Directors Reports Lorraine Neal - advised of Natural Resources shooting bears and questioning necessity. Daryll Hyslop - advised he will no longer be president of the Hazelwood Cottage Association in 4 days. He expected to be more involved in the Lions Club. He will send invoices to unpaid associations. Gary Dunlop - no report Bill Russell - wrote to Still Cove welcoming them to MACO. He also wrote to Karen Johnson and sent invoices. Sunset Bay has now paid $200 for 2004 and the 2005 fees.\ Joe Younge - attended an RM council meeting and advised them of the planned workshop. It received a favourable response. We should send an invitation to them. There is a plan to sell lots. Prices vary from about $45,000 for lakefront, golf course at about $50,000. May lease for another 5 years and after that lease will be cancelled. Meeting tomorrow. Pat Dunlop - provided an update on the status of the beacon project for Lundar Beach/Sugar Point Cottagers Association. Doug Neal - Doug advised that he would be tendering his resignation at the June meeting. Joe Younge moved that Doug Neal be removed as signing authority and Daryll Hyslop added in his place. Seconded by Gary Dunlop. Motion carried. 11. Date, time and location of next meeting Next meeting on Tuesday, June 21st, 2005 at the CanadInn, 2100 McPhillips Street. 12. Adjournment On a motion by Doug Neal and seconded by Daryll Hyslop the meeting adjourned at 8:45 P M Carried |
