Box 281, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB, R3G 2G9 Minutes of Meeting Date: Tuesday, September 18th, 2007 Time: 6:00 PM Location: CanadInns, 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg Present: Dave Crabb, Pat Dunlop, Gary Dunlop, Gus Wruck, Marian Jones, Bill Russell, Shirley Nixon, Ken Corbett, Guests: Larry Baker, Dan Lester, Mo Tipples, Carole Corbett Regrets: Jim Neufeld, Donna Jean Crabb, Rene Comeault, Lorne Britton Introduction - Dan Lester of Belair was introduced. He told the group about himself. 1.Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:11 p.m. 2.Adoption of Agenda Pat Dunlop moved adoption of the Agenda with additions. Seconded by Gus Wruck. Carried. 3.Adoption of the Minutes -Pat Dunlop moved adoption of the Minutes of August 21st, 2007. Seconded by Bill Russell. Carried. It was noted that Gordon Jones of Conservation has now retired. 4.Financial Report - Gary Dunlop moved adoption of the financial report presented with date correction. Seconded by Bill Russell. Carried. 5.Correspondence Received Fisheries Letter - From Fisheries & Oceans regarding the Carmine Shiner (a threatened species). Marion Jones was given the letter. 6.Correspondence Sent RM of St. Clements - Minister Bjornson attended the RM St. Clements meeting. Article in Spectator. Dave Crabb proposed letter to editor re unjustified attack on MACO. Email Dave with ideas. 7.Old Business a) Website - Bring Forward. Stan out of country. b) Water Stewardship Fund - Need address. Mo Tipples to check for address. c) Cheque for $5,000 - Dave to telephone Clive. d) School Taxes • Petitions - We have approximately 350 signatures to date. Pat to contact Rondeau to see if he will present the petition. • Funding - No further funding from RMs. Funds promised by RM St. Clements not received yet. e) Protest • Larry Baker provided information on necessary process for rally. Speaker/notification. Ask RM support on the tax issue. Moved by Gary Dunlop - That Larry Baker organize a rally on behalf of MACO for all Manitobans to be held at the legislative building for removal of all school taxes on property. Seconded by Marion Jones. Carried. • Assistant to Larry Baker - Dennis LeGros to assist Larry. • Coalition Support - Make form for AGM for KAP f) AGM Contract - Contract for facility okay. Moved by Gus Wruck. Seconded by Shirley Nixon. Carried. Nomination Committee's List - Dan Lester - Larry Baker Bob Johnson and Dick Dawson are considering. Guest Speaker (s) - Adrienne Batra confirmed. 11:00 am Dave to contact Hawranik for opinion on possible speaker. (Inter-governmental affairs) Food - Okay as set out in contract. 8.New Business • Lake Manitoba Stewardship Board Pat Dunlop advised that members of the Lundar Beach & Sugar Point Cottage Owner's Association wanted to know what was happening with respect to this board. 9.Directors' Reports Dave Crabb - Bears, bears - there have been 8 bears about - 4 cubs, a couple of 2 year olds and a couple of adults. Water system down. Geese are squawking Gary Dunlop - No report. Bill Russell - It has been a busy summer but is slowing down. There were lots of summer disturbances. Although he will no longer be on the board, he would like to continue to provide information and help if he can. Shirley Nixon - Spoke of the nets lost in the lake near Twin Lakes. They have provided the GPS locations. One person had fallen in trying to cut his boat free. A child also got caught in a net. Conservation hasn't acknowledged receipt of information. This is a big problem. Twin Lakes people have been on CJOB. Marian Jones- Received an email from Peggy Linklater. RM of Lac du Bonnet working on development plan (Lee River). Poplar Bay subdivision on - surveying in progress. Several areas in RM Alexander proceeding. Auglen Park has approached RM to have boat launch repaired due to added use of facility by RV Park. Conservation has not responded to RM. Roads have been repaired however beaver dam is again causing potential problem to roads. Volunteer appreciation supper is being held this weekend. Gus Wruck - Fournier Drive AGM has been held. Gus resigned and there is a new president. The Vice-President remains the same and Marlene Wruck is the new secretary. Mo Tipples - Water Stewardship has a website waterquality@gov.mb.ca regarding nutrient resource feedback. Feedback is required by September 21st as to how people feel about how far to go and how fast. Ken Corbett - Lake was good all summer. Resort gave donation of $75 to be used for silent auction in addition to association contribution. The pool is a little behind - should open in 09. Golf course in 08. Recreation area in 09. The marina is to double in size. They are asking for a by-pass for the area. The RM is supporting request. New lagoon construction should begin next year. Town uses the same lagoon at the present. Are hoping to have the water aerated. Pat Dunlop Have met with the RM regarding transfer of ownership of the beacon once purchased and installed. They will be meeting with the appropriate officials regarding planning and zoning. Dan Lester Advised of the Grand Marais Cottage Developers Association "Banff" style land development.
