MANITOBA ASSOCIATION OF COTTAGE OWNERS P.O. Box 281, Station Main, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2G9 February 12, 2006 Welcome to the MACO website! The Manitoba Association of Cottage Owners Inc. (MACO) welcomes you to our website. We hope you find it a reliable source of information that will make your life as a cottager or rural dweller a more rewarding experience. We are always there to help our members and prospective members deal with difficult situations ranging from constitutional issues within their association, to issues that may involve the municipal or provincial governments. We are always promoting better ways to do things so we can improve the environment and encourage a healthier habitat for fish and wildlife. Since 1992, we have been lobbying the provincial government to deal with issues such as the removal of school taxes from property tax, environmental issues involving sewage and drinking water systems, proposed industry threatening cottage and rural areas, and other more local issues that often required special meetings and strategy. We have attended many meetings to help residents make their case to municipal or provincial governments. It is important to purchase your membership to give us the funding to put on workshops like the upcoming one on April 22, 2006 at the Place Louis Hotel. We also have our newsletters, the Annual General Meeting and email notifications of topics that interest cottage and rural dwellers. You have to understand that the entire board of directors are volunteers. We are not paid for any of our time, gas or meals at our meetings. We are not paid for all the extra meetings or time we spend working on the Internet or for our long distance calls. You have to believe by now, that the people on the board of directors are there for you. Very dedicated people who I am proud to be leading through some time consuming tasks and a lot of work that has no reward other than change and thanks. Change for our members and for better communities. We hope you will spend some time looking through our website, and look up the brochures that explain more of what we do. Take some time to see some of the other interesting facts and information that we are constantly adding to make life by the water a more enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Please call if you have any questions, suggestions, if you want to get more involved, or you simply want to join MACO! Individuals and associations are both welcome.
